a return to more natural food could make us all feel a great deal more comfortable.

原因 a return to more natural food

= If we return to more natural food

結果   could make us all feel a great deal more comfortable

=We all could feel a great deal more comfortable

Despite the claims made by enthusiasts for health foods,

  ↑

     ↓

our food is not the only feature of our life that can be criticized on medical grounds.

Excess weight, cigarette smoking, and lack of exercise remain the three big causes of ill health and early death in our society

この英文は"three big causes of ill health and early death in our society"

but a return to more natural food could make us all feel a great deal more comfortable.

Despite the claims made by enthusiasts for health foods, our food is not the only feature of our life that can be criticized on medical grounds. ↓

                        ↓

Despite the claims made by enthusiasts for health foods,

"Enthusiasts for health foods claim that -----."
