今日も、早慶＆難関国公立大に受かる・わかる英語の時間がやってきました。
今日は、高校3年生の上位クラス（上から2つ目、偏差値６５～７２）前後の生徒に出した問題です。
とはいえ、特に難しいわけではなく、基本ができていれば正解になります。
実際、正答率が９０％を超える者もいました。全体としては７３％程度の正解率です。
全体の中から、抜粋してあります。
以下の問題に取り組んでみてください。

technology is an unquestionable blessing for man ― it is the source and vehicle of all progress and prosperity, and will provide solutions to all our social problems. (W)ですが、これはダッシュが後ろにありますね。ダッシュがあるということは、
前後関係がイコール関係です。ですから後ろを見ると、

（X）にはofが入るのは明白ですからもんだいがないとします。
内容は「人から、仕事、個性、プライバシーを奪ったり、環境を汚染したり、
宗教や精神的な価値を低めていく・・・」
ですから当然マイナス的な記述です。ということはダッシュの前もマイナス的な内容となります。
これをもとに本文からそうした記述を探します。解答は次の第２段落にあります。

３つの意見を出すときによくあるパターンですので、覚えておきましょう。

という抽象的なトピックセンテンスを受けての具体的な記述であることもしっかりと
把握しておきましょう。
こうした数量的な記述にであったら、そのあとに数を探す癖をつけることが大切です。
数量とはmany, some, severral, a few, a lot of, a number of, three, fourなどのように、
筆者の頭の中にある数がイメージされている語句です。
和訳の部分は簡単ですね。are of the view that ---で、「～という意見である」
くらいになりますね。
=be of opinion thatとも言えますね。
☞「科学技術が社会に与える影響は産業革命の影響（それ）ほど大きくはない、
素晴らしものではない、という考えを持っている人もいる」のようになるでしょう。

ここまでが、プラスの内容だから、後半の文脈はマイナスとなるはず。
